HGV Technician – Permanent Role
Location: Derby
Salary: £37,280 – £39,862 per annum (dependent on experience)
On-target earnings: Up to £42,000 (including standby, call-out, and bank holiday payments)
Hours: 37 hours/week, Monday–Friday, daytime with some flexibility
About the Role
A leading local authority is seeking a skilled HGV Technician to join their dedicated and friendly transport team. This is a diverse and hands-on role, working across a fleet of heavy and light commercial vehicles, including specialist vehicles such as refuse collection and road sweepers.
You will carry out:

Maintenance, repair, and diagnostics of HGVs and commercial vehicles
*
Work on electrical and hydraulic systems
*
Welding and fabrication tasks as required
*
Participation in an out-of-hours call-out standby rota, with competitive standby and call-out pay
There is also the opportunity to work overtime on bank holidays, allowing for additional earnings.
Candidate Requirements
We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:

City & Guilds Level 1, 2, and 3 (or equivalent NVQ) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair
*
Proven experience working on HGV vehicles
*
Experience with specialist vehicles is desirable but not essential
*
Full HGV licence with DCPC is advantageous (training can be provided for the right candidate)
