Human Resources Advisor
The Action Group is seeking an experienced Human Resources Advisor to join our dedicated HR team and support managers across the organisation.
Job Description
Location: The Prentice Centre, 1 Granton Mains Avenue, Edinburgh (remote/home working with occasional office attendance)
Salary: Points 37‑39 – £34,753.83 to £36,929.76 p.a. (expected start at the bottom of the scale)
Hours: 39 hours per week
Responsibilities
* Providing expert HR advice and guidance to managers on policies, procedures, employment law and employee relations matters.
* Supporting the management of employee relations cases, including conduct, performance and absence issues.
* Coaching and developing managers to improve their people management skills and understanding of HR best practice.
* Contributing to the development, implementation and communication of HR policies and strategies.
* Maintaining accurate HR records and producing reports from our HR information systems.
* Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, governing bodies and organisational policies, including immigration, sponsorship and social care sector requirements.
* Supporting HR projects and initiatives as required.
* Acting as a champion for equality, diversity and inclusion in all aspects of the role.
* Handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
Required Criteria
* Acceptance and support of The Action Group’s values.
* At least three years’ experience in a Human Resources role, including HR advisory or management experience.
* Up-to-date knowledge of employment law, HR policies and good practice.
* Ability to provide clear, professional advice and support to managers and colleagues.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Confident use of Microsoft Office applications.
* Excellent organisational and time‑management skills, with the ability to manage a varied workload.
* Accuracy and attention to detail.
* Ability to handle sensitive or confidential information with discretion.
* Collaborative team player with a professional and approachable manner.
* Proactive, self‑motivated and solution‑focused.
* Available to work 39 hours per week.
Desired Criteria
* CIPD qualification (Level 5 or above; Level 7 preferred).
* Experience using HR systems such as Cascade.
* Experience working in HR within the social care sector.
* Experience of coaching or training managers and colleagues.
* Understanding of safer recruitment practices and data‑protection legislation.
* Forward‑thinking and creative approach to problem solving.
