We are currently working with a Local Authority in the South West who are looking for an experienced Housing Development Lead to join their team.
You will lead the delivery of affordable housing development projects, overseeing schemes from planning and procurement through to construction and completion. Working closely with internal teams, elected members and external partners, you will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.

Hours: 4 days per week
Rate: £500 per day inside IR35
Duration: 6 Months
Target start date: 15th June
Role Details
* Manage and oversee affordable housing development and property acquisition projects within the council’s housing delivery programme
* Provide client-side project management, ensuring schemes meet agreed timescales, budgets and quality requirements
* Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, including housing, planning, asset management teams and elected members
* Liaise with consultants, contractors, registered providers, funding bodies and other external partners to support successful project delivery
* Support stakeholder and community engagement activities where required
* Maintain accurate project records, reporting and documentation to support governance, audit and programme management
Requirements
* Significant experience delivering affordable housing development projects, ideally within a local authority or public sector environment
* Strong understanding of affordable housing delivery, residential development and construction processes
* Knowledge of housing challenges affecting rural, coastal and market town communities
* Experience managing multiple stakeholders, consultants, contractors and development partners
* Excellent project management, communication and relationship-building skills
* Ability to work collaboratively, manage competing priorities and deliver projects to agreed objectives
* Good IT skills, including Microsoft 365 and relevant project or housing management systems
* Knowledge of the regional housing and development market would be advantageous
