The role:

To work within the nursing and multi-disciplinary team actively contributing to the education and training strategy within the directorate. To ensure practice development activity and pre and post registration education development needs are met within the clinical specialty. A key role of this post is to ensure staff meet competency requirements and are equipped with the skills required to perform their role to the optimum. The will Lead educational initiatives within the Orthopaedic service and promote continuous improvement of patient centred care. They will be responsible for ensuring that clinical practice within this specialty is up to date utilising guidelines, evidence based practice, research and audit. To lead the development, delivery and evaluation of specialty specific educational programs and sessions incorporating the needs of both qualified and unqualified staff as well as professional development of new nursing staff.

The post holder will be expected to provide a quarterly education report and training needs analysis for the directorate team in line with key government targets, initiatives. The post-holder will support staff clinically with particular emphasis on post registration nursing education.

A key component of this role is the facilitating, monitoring, project management and operational support related to the quality and improvement agenda and the ongoing evaluation of the subsequent impact on clinical practice. A core component of this work will be the support of clinical teams with the implementation of CAAS.

Permanent, part time

Orthopaedic floor, RAH, Paisley. PA2 9PT

Shift pattern - Monday - Friday

Key responsibilities:

To assist in coordinating the provision of seamless care in conjunction with the Lead Nurse Advanced Nurse Practitioner & Medical staff, And to liaise with other members of the MDT to facilitate investigation, treatment, transfer or discharge of the acutely ill patient as quickly and efficiently as possible.

To provide a high quality safe and supportive environment in order to care for patients within the Orthopaedic directorate.


Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

* Registered Nurse, Midwife with current NMC Registration
* 5 years post registration experience two of which must be at Band 6 or above
* Educated to degree level, preferably at Masters level (or currently working towards masters degree)
* A post graduate teaching and learning qualification recordable with the NMC (or currently working towards) and/or a portfolio of evidence of experience in teaching / learning in the formal setting
* Evidence of ongoing professional development.
* Demonstrated experience of managing complex projects to completion
* Well developed partnership working and negotiation skills
* Strong communication/Interpersonal skills including report writing
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to adopt a proactive approach to problem solving and change management
* Facilitation skills
* Clinically competent
* Highly competent in oral and written communication
* Ability to work autonomously
* IT skills with demonstrated ability to use a range of software packages
