Role Summary
This role is open to Undergraduate Students studying in the College of Social Sciences. If you have an active account on Core Systems, please apply with your staff email. The application deadline is Thursday 18th 2025. We are looking for current students to join our team to support student experience activity for the College. Ambassadors may be involved in activities including delivering presentations to large audiences, leading campus tours, generating social media content, supporting the organisation and delivery of events, and facilitating feedback collection and collation to support analysis and action planning. Successful candidates will be required to attend a training day in September where they will receive a comprehensive overview of the role, responsibilities and tasks required as well as EDB training from experienced staff. All Ambassadors are also expected to make themselves available for Welcome Week in September.
Main Duties
* You will be managed by a member of the College Student Experience team who will direct your work and priorities. These include any combination of:
* Supporting Welcome Week activity, which may include: Arrivals Weekend Welcome stall, team building events for new students, leading campus tours, preparing and delivering presentations, participating in student panels on topics related to student experience and transition support.
* Facilitating co-creation and delivery of peer-led events with staff oversight; suggesting ideas for impactful activities, identifying resources, promoting the event, supporting on-the-day delivery, and capturing event evaluation information from attendees.
* Responding professionally and knowledgeably to ad-hoc queries relating to events and EDB information via events, social media, and information stalls.
* Assisting with student communications (e.g., newsletters and social media content) ensuring inclusivity and representation of diverse student cohorts.
* Supporting student feedback activity, promoting feedback routes including national surveys, and collating academic feedback throughout the year.
* Supporting the design and delivery of awareness campaigns on Equality Diversity & Belonging (EDB) initiatives and celebrating key cultural dates.
* Supporting and collaborating with pre-existing EDB-related activities within your School to support broader strategic objectives.
* Contributing to curriculum development initiatives on request of School Committees (e.g., Education or EDB committees).
* Engaging with feedback from all students within your School and sitting on the School Equality, Diversity, and Belonging Committee where applicable.
Person Specification
* Current student studying a College of Social Sciences subject (applications from outside the Schools of Education, Government, Business, and Social Policy may not be considered).
* Enthusiasm for the University, the College, and your area of study.
* Good knowledge of the University, campus, and student support services (or willingness to learn).
* Understanding of lived experiences of people from marginalised or minoritised groups, and willingness to learn from others.
* Ability to come up with creative solutions, take initiative, work independently, and manage multiple deadlines.
* Good level of English in written and verbal communication.
* Customer service skills, including staying calm, friendly, and helpful under pressure.
* Diplomacy and initiative in dealing with a variety of people and situations.
* Professional approach and ability to represent the University and its brand.
* Reliable, punctual, organised and conscientious; able to resolve problems when needed.
* Confident and comfortable appearing on camera.
* Social media experience (desirable).
