Salary: Grade 8 - £34,434 - £38,221 (Pay award pending)
Contract: Temporary Fixed Term (2‑year), Full time, 37 hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Environmental Sustainability unit, working within the Natural Environment team at the Civic Office. The unit is responsible for co‑ordinating and driving activities to support carbon reduction and nature recovery across Doncaster, in line with the city’s Environment and Sustainability strategy. This role focuses on agro‑forestry projects and will deliver initiatives to support agricultural landowners in increasing hedgerows, shelterbelts and tree planting schemes for Doncaster’s “One Million Trees” challenge.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will work closely with the Trees and Woodland Development Officer to increase tree cover in Doncaster by coordinating planting projects on public and private land. They will support and facilitate agro‑forestry projects of various types and sizes, applying the appropriate technical and regulatory requirements to deliver work across all project management stages. Additionally, the role will contribute to the development of a Trees, Woodland and Hedgerow Strategy for the city.
You will engage with internal and external stakeholders, providing advice, support and positive engagement through multiple avenues to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, effectively and meet specifications. You will need to be resourceful, reliable, thorough, enthusiastic, flexible, resilient, and capable of working independently and as part of a team, motivating others.
Qualifications and Experience
Due to the nature of the role, applicants with a farming background, and/or knowledge and experience of working directly with landowners in an agricultural setting, are preferred.
