ROLE - Principal Mechanical Design Engineer
LOCATION - Dorset
TERM - Permanent
SALARY - £40,000 - £50,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
The client designs and manufactures specialist equipment and precision parts. They are seeking a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Dorset on a permanent basis.
The ideal candidate will have:
* At least 5 years of experience in a similar CAD Design / Mechanical Development role
* Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ in Mechanical Engineering or related field
* Knowledge of machinery, robotics, rotating equipment, and precision components
* Experience in a manufacturing environment
* Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, etc.
* Strong theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Good organizational and time management skills
* Ability to work independently and in a small multidisciplinary team
Responsibilities include:
* Using CAD for concept design and technical drawings
* Reverse engineering, product development, testing, and prototyping
* Liaising with manufacturing providers
* Involvement in final product assembly
* Creating design documentation and project reports/plans
* Updating 3D models and drawings
* Inputting parts into the MRP system and creating BOMs
* Checking drawings for approval
* Collaborating within a small multidisciplinary team on various projects
