There is an exciting opportunity to assist with managing the Nuclear Medicine department at the University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust. The post holder will assist with managing a team of Clinical Technologists, students and clerical staff in the day to day running of the Nuclear Medicine department.

Responsibilities
* Assist the Chief Technologist to lead and manage the Clinical Technical Services and administrative work of the Nuclear Medicine Department.
* Assist the Chief Technologist to manage a team of Clinical Technologists and Trainees.
* Assist the Chief Technologist to manage a team of clerical staff (booking clerks, receptions and secretaries).
* Assist the Chief Technologist to manage the budget within allocated resources by investigating, sourcing and ordering the most appropriate consumables and equipment.
* Supervise and teach qualified technologists and trainees.
* Manage the day-to-day running of clinical work in the department.
* Manage scheduling of complex imaging and non-imaging investigations, liaising with internal and external clinical teams when required.
* Assist the Chief Technologist in recruitment of staff.
* Assist in the development of new procedures and protocols and record these on the quality management system.
* Deputise for the Chief Technologist when absent.
* Provide high quality clinical care while performing a range of diagnostic imaging and non-imaging investigations in Nuclear Medicine as required.
* Manufacture, dispense and administer radiopharmaceuticals under the same standards as Pharmacy for intravenous and oral administration when required.
Key Duties Specifics
* Take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the department.
* Produce the weekly technologists rota and amend camera availability accordingly.
* Teach and assess technologists and students.
* Liaise with the bookings team regarding routine and complex bookings.
* Generate and review protocols and standard operating procedures and other documentation critical to service delivery.
* Ensure technologists and clerical staff keep statutory training and competencies up to date.
* Ensure appraisals are up to date, arrange appraisal dates, conduct appraisals and formulate action plans with the Chief Technologist.
* Manage annual leave for technologists and clerical staff to maintain adequate skill mix.
* Evaluate, purchase and install equipment.
* Assist in budget management within allocated resources.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential
* BSc in Clinical Technology, Radiography or equivalent.
* Post Graduate Certification in Nuclear Medicine or equivalent level of proven knowledge or demonstrable experience.
* HPC Registration or Registered with RCT.
Aptitude & Abilities
* Good interpersonal skills to work with staff from other professions and with patients of all ages and backgrounds.
* Ability to prioritise workload, instruct and direct others.
Desirable
* Teaching and mentoring.
* Demonstrable management experience.
