We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Pastoral Support Officer to join our supportive secondary school community in Rochdale. This is a vital role focused on promoting student wellbeing, improving behaviour, and supporting pupils to overcome barriers to learning.
The successful candidate will have prior experience in a similar pastoral, behaviour, or student support role within a secondary school setting and will be confident working with young people across Key Stages 3 and 4.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide targeted pastoral support to students, including those with social, emotional, or behavioural needs
* Monitor and track student attendance, behaviour, and wellbeing
* Work closely with Heads of Year, safeguarding leads, and senior leadership
* Liaise effectively with parents/carers to support positive outcomes
* Deliver interventions to improve engagement, resilience, and personal development
* Support behaviour management strategies and restorative approaches
* Contribute to safeguarding and child protection processes in line with school policy
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Proven experience working in a pastoral or behaviour support role within a secondary school
* Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
* The ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
* A proactive and solution-focused approach
* Experience working with vulnerable students or those with SEMH needs
