We’re looking for a safeguarding advisor to work across the county, in the safeguarding team as a front door practitioner, attending strategy discussions and MASH meetings, providing specialist knowledge regarding public health nursing. Working with partner agencies to assess need and risk for children, adults and families to safeguard and promote welfare.
What will I be doing?
* Identify children who are vulnerable or at risk of harm; respond to incidents of actual or suspected abuse; ensure child protection practices align with local and national guidelines and policies.
* Investigate and escalate complaints and incidents at a team level.
* Collaborate with PHN team and wider safeguarding system to improve outcomes for children and families.
* Liaise with other agencies, professionals and organisations to keep them informed of service provision and, with consent, advise on individual cases.
* Attend working groups to develop and agree local policies, protocols and standards to identify and respond to local health needs.
What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
You are a registered Nurse or have a degree or equivalent level of professional safeguarding practice (e.g., social worker, education or police). You will:
* Have awareness and working knowledge of current safeguarding legislation, guidelines and best practices.
* Demonstrate working knowledge of the Public Health Nursing role.
* Practical safeguarding experience in a specialist capacity, preferably with children and young people.
* Be confident in using digital systems for documentation, communication, and data analysis.
* Can manage challenging and sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy.

The Salary for the role is in line with Agenda for Change, Band 6, £38,682 to £46,580 per annum.
