Responsibilities
* Implement and manage the Quality Management System (QMS) for the Haematology/Transfusion department.
* Provide direction in workload management, focusing on identifying and correcting errors and non‑conformances.
* Lead audit training, supporting new and existing team members to perform audits and report findings accurately.
* Analyse audit findings and trend data on adverse events and incidents to drive improvement work.
* Maintain strong working relationships across the department, promoting teamwork and the professional image of Pathology within the Trust.
* Ensure the department maintains a quality culture in line with ISO 15189:2022 (or equivalent accreditation) and complies with UKAS, HSE and MHRA standards.
* Co‑ordinate laboratory process audits in support of the Pathology Quality Manager.
* Provide training in QMS, audit, document management and recording of training records to new and existing staff.
* Identify and implement service improvements, evaluate new equipment and introduce new techniques where appropriate.
* Monitor and review reported clinical and non‑clinical incidents, providing trend feedback to Haematology/Transfusion Management and ensuring root‑cause analyses are completed.
* Produce and present reports on the QMS to the management team.
Qualifications
* Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Biomedical Scientist.
* Adherence to HCPC and Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) codes of practice.
* Experience in quality management, audit processes and document management within a clinical laboratory setting.
