Job information Post No. POSN004328 - National Referral Mechanism Co-ordinator 1 Part-time role-17.5 hours per week Fixed Term 12 months to 31.03.2026 Newport City Council are seeking to appoint an additional National Referral Mechanism Coordinator to meet the growing demands of the pilot across the 5 local authorities in Gwent. The primary focus of the role will consist of working alongside the existing NRM Coordinator to coordinate and chair the multi-agency decision making panels; facilitating the organisation and effective operation of meetings, as well as utilising your knowledge of the legislation around Modern Slavery and the NRM framework which is responsible for identifying and referring potential victims of modern slavery and ensuring they receive the appropriate support. The post holder will be a point of contact with the Home Office to receive referrals and will collect and share information required for the Panel to make informed decisions on NRM referrals, additionally coordinating follow up of actions should further information be required. The role will require the post holder to closely liaise with and support practitioners assessing and supporting victims of modern slavery, providing specialist guidance and advice, and to raise service standards regarding modern slavery and use of NRM through the provision of training and awareness. You will need to have a strong understanding of Exploitation and the legislation around safeguarding children with significant experience of multi-agency working in a relevant field. The postholder will have regard for children, young people and their families within the NRM process, ensuring that children’s experiences and voices are presented, advocated for and understood. You will need to be a confident communicator, able to manage challenging conversations and hold people to account. You will need to able to work independently and efficiently to tight home office timescales. The role will be a mixture of home and office based working with mainly online and occasional face to face meetings.
