The successful candidate will be part of a geological services company that is globally engaged in projects with diverse geological applications. This exciting opportunity exists for a Geological Data Scientist to lead the development and implementation of new analytical workflows.
Profile
* A postgraduate degree in geoscience and/or data science is essential
* Intermediate proficiency in scientific programming (e.g. Python, R) with demonstrable experience in data science and machine learning techniques is required
* Ability to design analytical workflows and critically assess outputs is crucial
* Industry experience in geoscience is highly preferred
* Experience with geoscientific analytical or imaging techniques (e.g. XRF, visible/hyperspectral imaging) is advantageous
* Experience of working in a geological laboratory setting is also beneficial
* Proactive and self-motivated individuals with excellent communication skills are ideal candidates
* Candidates must have the right to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not available for this position
Responsibilities
* Take a leading role in developing and implementing new analytical workflows at our Llandudno Junction site, working closely with R&D teams
* Work as part of a multidisciplinary team of geoscientists and data scientists to apply and further develop data analysis and machine learning techniques
* Integrate analytical outputs with other data sources and effectively communicate findings internally and externally
* Analyse, interpret, and integrate geoscience data from various geological samples
* Mentor junior team members and collaborate closely with stakeholders across R&D, consultancy, and software development
* Occasional overseas travel may be required for periods of up to one month at a time
