Senior Charities Finance Officer

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Charities Finance Officer to join our busy Charity Finance Team. We're looking for an individual who is experienced, highly organised, motivated, works independently yet as part of a team with a positive can‑do attitude and a passion for giving back.
Main duties of the job
* Assisting in producing the Statement of Financial Position, Activities and cash flow on a monthly basis.
* Contributing to the production of the Finance Report for the Charitable Funds Committee and the Charity Accounts.
* Identifying and implementing service development, delivering efficiencies in line with the Charity Strategy and ensuring service delivery and completion of statutory returns.
* Managing and completing Legacy Administration, liaising with Executors of Wills, Legacy fundraisers and leading the coordination and planning of Legacy Administration with the fundraising team.
* Managing the administration of the Staff Lottery including the completion of committee reports and appropriate returns.
* Contributing to the development of the Annual Planning cycle, and completing budget monitoring and income trend analysis.
* Being a point of contact offering advice and guidance as set out by the Charity Trustee and Charity Commission policies.
* Maintaining and developing controls ensuring all expenditure charged to the Charity is appropriate.
* Providing line management to the Charities Finance Assistant, Charities Senior Finance Officer and trainees, ensuring appropriate appraisal, supervision and objective setting.
* Developing and maintaining working relationships with the Trust's external and internal auditors, and other external bodies as appropriate.
* Producing and maintaining appropriate procedure notes relating to areas of responsibility.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* AAT, NVQ 4 or equivalent experience to degree level
* ECDL
Knowledge
* Specialist knowledge of charity finance
* Understanding of the NHS and the Trust Financial Regime
* Knowledge of Financial Systems
* Knowledge of relevant accounting standards and other guidance and legislation
* Experience of working in an NHS Charity or other Charity Finance Team
* Knowledge of the Charity SORP/FRS 102
Training and Experience
* Demonstrable experience of working at a senior level within a charity finance function
* Demonstrable experience of working with a computerised accounting package
* Commitment to own personal development and that of the Team
* Knowledge and experience of all applications found in 'Microsoft Office'
* Experience of working within an NHS finance department
* Working knowledge of Integra ledger system

* Ability to provide analyze and forecast income trends
* Ability to analyse and interpret data
* Ability to analyse, investigate and resolve complex queries and discrepancies
