Position Overview
The elementary teacher is responsible for guiding students in grades 1-3 through a supportive, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment aligned with the State of Michigan standards and benchmarks.
Key Responsibilities
1. Create and maintain a prepared and supportive classroom environment that supports independence and engagement
2. Plan and deliver instruction in reading, writing, math, and integrated subject areas
3. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
4. Use formative assessments and progress monitoring tools (including NWEA data) to inform instruction
5. Foster a positive classroom culture focused on respect, responsibility, and growth
6. Communicate regularly and effectively with families
7. Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and administration
8. Support students’ social-emotional development and executive functioning skills
Qualifications
9. Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field (required)
10. Valid teaching license (required)
11. Experience working with lower elementary-aged students
12. Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills
13. Growth mindset and commitment to continuous professional learning
