Role Overview
Based at our client’s facility in Bedford, this role supports the efficient operation of the stores and logistics function. The position involves the safe operation of a forklift truck, moving equipment and materials across site, and assisting with general warehouse activities.
Applicants must have demonstrable experience operating a forklift truck.
Key Responsibilities
Support warehouse management to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the stores function
Operate a forklift truck to safely move equipment and materials around the site
Assist in maintaining accurate stock control and logistics processes
Maintain competency across all aspects of logistics operations, including IT systems and materials handling equipment (MHE)
Support colleagues and provide on-the-job guidance where required
Demonstrate a customer-focused, proactive approach to meeting operational requirements
Be flexible and willing to support other areas of the organisation as business needs require
Undertake tasks within safe levels of competence
Identify opportunities to improve processes, working practices, and team efficiency
Skills & Experience
Forklift truck driving experience (essential)
Security Clearance (SC) held previously or currently is highly desirable
Experience within stores, logistics, defence, Armed Forces, or MoD environments is advantageous
Comfortable using multiple IT systems
Physically capable of handling and moving materials around site
Strong problem-solving abilities
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to remain calm under pressure and resolve issues effectively
Willingness to question processes constructively and contribute to improvements
Motivated to learn new skills and develop within the role
