Overview
We have afantastic opportunity to join our fast-paced and exciting Emergency Centre Administration Team as a Rota Coordinator covering the Emergency Departments and Acute Medicine. We're looking for someone who thrives on face-to-face engagement with clinicians and values high visibility across departments at both Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH) and Princess Royal Hospital (PRH). This role is ideal for a proactive communicator who builds strong relationships through in-person conversations and maintains a consistent, approachable presence across clinical teams.
Responsibilities
* Work closely with the Emergency Centre Clinical Directors and Operational Team to ensure safe staffing is maintained whilst managing the Emergency Centre Support Rota Coordinator.
* Help ensure safe, efficient, and clinically appropriate staffing across Emergency Departments and Acute Medicine footprints at RSH and PRH.
* Play a key role in day-to-day staffing decisions and rota coordination; use knowledge and expertise of managing medical rotas, E-Rostering/Medic on Duty to identify problems and use initiative to provide and enact solutions to rota issues.
* Review unexpected absences daily and use initiative to find and enact solutions to ensure gaps in the rota are mitigated, escalating areas of concern to the senior Operational Team if unable to resolve in a timely manner.
* Be responsible for arranging the provision of locum cover for doctors in the relevant grades, coordinating CV Sign Off; liaise with Agile directly when urgent cover is required.
* Negotiate hours of cover with medical staff with initiative and judgement, liaising with the relevant Consultant.
* Work with Agile, Consultant staff and medical teams to fill temporary vacancies and support longer term solutions to gaps within the medical rota.
* Establish and maintain effective administrative systems and processes between Medical People Services, HR and Payroll. Manage frequent change within these systems and update the Centre Management Team and relevant Consultants on progress.
