We’re recruiting a Senior Risk Manager to join our Financial Services team on a 12 month contract.
The Senior Risk Manager for Strategic Programmes will be a critical 2nd Line of Defence professional, responsible for providing independent risk challenge, oversight and guidance to core project activities within our main strategic programme; ensuring that project risks are identified, assessed and managed effectively within the project lifecycle; collaborating with risk owners to ensure risks are appropriately managed and well controlled. This will include providing oversight and challenging the performance of managed risk through risk reviews and control forums. You will monitor mitigation plans through to successful delivery.
You will work collaboratively with the established strategic programme team and key stakeholders to embed robust risk management standards, challenge risk mitigation strategies and champion a risk aware culture across our Financial Services programmes to ensure adherence to all elements of the Partnership Risk Management & Resilience Framework and Senior Leader’s expectation. This role requires a proactive individual with strong critical thinking and communication skills, capable of
influencing programme delivery to achieve successful and resilient outcomes for the Partnership.

* Salary - up to £70,000 (depending on experience)
* Contract type - This position is a 12 month fixed term contract/secondment.
* Working pattern/flexible working - The Partnership has adopted a hybrid working approach, meaning you'll be able to work a mixture between the office and home based upon your personal needs whilst balancing the needs of the business. The team aims for around 1-2 days a week in the office to connect.
Key responsibilities
Risk Identification & Assessment
* Provide 2nd Line of Defence Oversight of the Project Risk Registers
* Ensure risks associated with strategic programmes are identified, assessed and documented throughout their lifecycle.
* Proactively challenge project teams on their risk identification and assessment processes.
* Identify risk trends and emerging risks.
Risk Mitigation & Control
* Ensure project teams have developed and implemented risk mitigation
* Plans and control measures specifically tailored to project deliverables and timelines.
* Monitor and ensure compliance with risk management policies and procedures.
* Provide independent challenges on the effectiveness and appropriateness of project risk controls.
Risk Reporting
* Coordinate centralised risk reporting.
* Prepare Risk Management information.
Collaboration & Communication
* Work collaboratively with strategic programme teams, project managers and other stakeholders to understand and address specific risks within their project areas.
* Act as a trusted advisor and independent challenger to project leadership on risk matters.
Training & Education
* Create and deliver risk training to Partners on risk management principles, policies and procedures (Managers and Leads)
* Foster a risk-aware culture within FS
Essential skills/experience you’ll need
* Demonstrable experience of risk management specifically within large scale projects or strategic programmes
* Proven ability to provide effective 2nd line of Defense challenge and oversight
* Experience in stakeholder management with the ability to adapt style to experience and seniority of stakeholders
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
