Job Description Science Teacher – Large Secondary School – Hillingdon A well-established secondary school in Hillingdon is looking to appoint a Science Teacher to join its team from September. This is a large and ambitious school with a strong focus on academic progress, student wellbeing and staff development. The leadership team is committed to supporting teachers and ensuring departments are well resourced. They are now seeking a Science Teacher who can deliver engaging lessons and contribute to the continued development of the Science department. School & Science Teacher Role Overview: Large mixed secondary school in Hillingdon Around 1,500 pupils aged 11–18 Modern science laboratories and specialist teaching spaces Science Teacher role teaching KS3 and KS4 (KS5 available depending on specialism) Outer London MPS1 – UPS3 (£36,413 – £53,994) The Science Department: The Science department is a well-established team made up of experienced teachers who work collaboratively to plan lessons and share resources. The department teaches all three sciences across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with separate science pathways available at GCSE and strong uptake at A Level. Teachers benefit from well-equipped laboratories, dedicated preparation areas and strong technician support, allowing practical work to play an important role in lessons. The department places a clear focus on helping pupils develop both their scientific knowledge and their curiosity about the subject. Staff regularly work together on curriculum planning and assessment, ensuring lessons are well structured and students are supported at every stage of their learning. There is also a strong emphasis on helping pupils develop the skills needed for further study in science-related subjects.
