About The Business Unit
The Energy unit delivers integrated engineering and project management services across the entire project lifecycle – from concept and design to construction, operations, decommissioning, and life extension. We support the energy transition globally.
Overview of the Role
Our office-based department requires a Senior Civil Engineer to work on high‑voltage electricity overhead line and cable projects. Projects include feasibility studies, consenting, outline and detailed design for clients such as National Grid Electricity Transmission, Scottish & Southern Energy, EirGrid and others.
Responsibilities
* Project management
* Design coordination across multidisciplinary teams
* Client liaison
* Proposal writing and scheme costings
* Optioneering and appraisal works
* Front End Engineering Design (FEED)
* Preparation of drawings for planning applications and tender packages
* Detailed civil engineering design
* Cable routing design
Candidate Specification
We seek candidates who have previous experience with linear infrastructure civil engineering projects – such as high‑voltage electricity, water pipelines, utilities, or highway developments – and can demonstrate leadership and mentoring of junior engineers.
Requirements we Will Be Looking For
* Experience delivering linear civil engineering infrastructure projects (e.g., highways, water infrastructure, utilities)
* Ability to deliver projects to identified budgets and schedules
* Experience mentoring junior civil engineering professionals
* Regular interaction with clients
* Effective collaboration with senior and junior staff in producing reports, designs, and drawings
* Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
* Proficient IT skills including MS Office, Teams, and Outlook
* Experience with Autodesk Civil 3D or GIS considered beneficial but not essential
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a degree in Civil Engineering and be working towards ICE Chartership or already Chartered.
Location
Our team operates across the UK and Europe. Candidates may need to undertake short‑term site visits for client and contractor meetings.
