Overview
Role: Community Payback Supervisor – Surrey (Guildford, Redhill & Staines)
Working hours: Standard full‑time 37 hours per week (typical 4 days of 9.25 hours). The schedule must include at least one weekend day and may involve evenings as operational delivery requires. Flexible start times from 07:00 to 16:45 and the possibility of weekend shifts are required.
Travel: A travel allowance will be provided at the relevant financial year rate. You will be expected to travel to other offices within the Region as required.
Responsibilities
- Supervise groups of offenders serving community sentences, ensuring all tasks are completed to the highest standard.
- Lead, support and motivate community payback participants on a range of manual tasks including: clearing overgrowth, restoring public spaces, planting trees, laying flowerbeds, litter picking and graffiti removal.
- Operate and, if necessary, drive service vehicles to transport people or equipment.
- Maintain effective communication with service users and colleagues, demonstrating good practice and providing guidance.
- Record and report on work site activities, progress and any incidents in line with organisational procedures.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Full UK Manual Driving Licence (automatic licence only will not be accepted).
- Right to work in the UK and comply with Civil Service immigration rules.
- Experience in supervision or leadership roles (preferred).
- Good communication skills and a supportive, empathetic approach to working with a diverse mix of individuals.

Salary
Starting salary: £28,064 (pro‑rata for part‑time roles). Annual pay progression available through the Competency-Based Framework.
