Location:
Abingdon, Oxfordshire
SLB’s Abingdon Technology Centre, UK, is the home of reservoir simulation. The most widely used reservoir simulation tools in the industry are conceived and created here. The depth of experience of the Oxfordshire group is unparalleled anywhere else. As we continue to support the energy transition to low carbon solutions, we require a dynamic recent graduate to join our software development team.
Description & Scope:
Within the simulations team, you will learn about and contribute to the build technologies and tools used for the cloud based continuous building and deployment of our technical software products.
Responsibilities:
Work with the build technologies and tools used for the cloud based continuous building and deployment of our reservoir simulator software will include projects such as:
1. Improving the load balancer system to add notifications and cloud virtual machine status monitoring
2. Refactoring an automated deployment and testing pipeline to improve reliability and maintainability
3. Investigating transient build failure and redesigning build pipelines to add resiliency.
Technologies used:
Within the role you will gain experience and exposure to:
4. Azure Cloud configuration, Azure DevOps design and operation
5. Docker container design
6. Python coding
7. Ansible and Terraform for machine configuration
8. Visual Studio Code
9. YAML syntax
10. Windows and Linux environments.
Qualifications:
11. Degree in Computer Science, Computing, Systems Engineering or a related discipline
12. Programming Skills in Python / C++ or similar
13. Experience with DevOps tools
14. Passion for Systems Engineering
