Teaching Assistant – Day-to-Day Temporary Cover Location: Yeovil, Somerset Setting: Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) – Year 11 Contract: Temporary / Day-to-Day Supply We are working with a specialist Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Yeovil that supports Year 11 pupils who have been permanently excluded from mainstream education. The provision has a small cohort of up to 15 pupils, allowing for a highly personalised and supportive learning environment. The school is seeking experienced Teaching Assistants to provide day-to-day temporary cover on an as-needed basis. The Role: Providing classroom support during staff absences Supporting pupils with SEMH and additional SEN needs Working 1:1 or with small groups of pupils Assisting with learning activities and engagement Supporting behaviour management and de-escalation strategies Helping to maintain a safe, calm and structured environment The Ideal Candidate: Has previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, ideally within a PRU, SEN, SEMH or alternative provision Is confident supporting pupils with challenging behaviour Is flexible, reliable and able to adapt quickly to different situations Remains calm, patient and resilient under pressure Has a strong understanding of safeguarding and pupil wellbeing Why Work This Role: Flexible work to fit around your availability Opportunity to gain experience within a specialist PRU setting Small class sizes with high staff-to-pupil support Support from an education-based agency This role would suit Teaching Assistants who are looking for flexible, rewarding work and are confident supporting pupils with complex needs in a specialist environment.
