Civil Engineer – Highways & Infrastructure

An established and growing transport planning and infrastructure consultancy is looking to appoint a Civil Engineer to join their team in Gateshead.
The business operates across multiple UK offices and delivers transport planning, highways design, drainage and development infrastructure solutions for a wide range of private developers and public sector clients. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of development projects while progressing within a collaborative consultancy environment.
The Role You will play a key role in the design and delivery of highways infrastructure projects, supporting schemes from concept through to detailed design and approval.
Responsibilities include:
* Delivering Section 278 and Section 38 highways design projects
* Preparing and reviewing technical drawings, designs and reports
* Ensuring designs comply with DMRB, MCHW and local authority standards
* Managing project delivery to programme and budget
* Coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders
* Supporting the wider team with projects across multiple offices
* Promoting innovation, quality and continuous improvement
* Ensuring compliance with CDM regulations and health & safety requirements
Requirements Essential
* Experience delivering Section 278 / Section 38 highway schemes
* Strong highways design experience
* Working knowledge of DMRB and relevant highway standards
* Experience delivering projects to programme and budget
* Proficiency with Civil 3D
* Ability to work independently and provide technical input to clients
Desirable
* Experience preparing cost estimates
* Membership of a relevant professional institution
* Full UK driving licence
