Full-Time KS2 Teaching Assistant - Derby
Start: September 2025 (Full Academic Year)
Location: Derby UK
Contract: Term‑time only (39 weeks) - Monday to Friday, approx. 8:30-15:30
Salary: Competitive daily/annual rate from £90 -£ 110 via PAYE
About the Role
We're seeking a dedicated KS2 Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant primary school from September 2025 based in Derby Centre. You'll support a mainstream Year 3-6 cohort, delivering targeted academic and pastoral care. Your focus will include one-to-one and small-group work with pupils with special educational needs-particularly those with autism, ADHD, speech/language difficulties, SEMH, and MLD.
Collaborating closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and external professionals (. speech and language therapists), you'll help adapt learning materials, support intervention sessions, and play an active part in tracking progress and contributing to SEN meetings and EHCP reviews.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide targeted support (1:1 and small group) to Year 3-6 pupils, especially those with SEN
2. Adapt and prepare resources to meet individual needs
3. Implement interventions in literacy, numeracy, and SEMH support
4. Support classroom management and positive behaviour strategies
5. Monitor pupil progress, maintain records, and contribute to meetings and reviews
6. Build strong, nurturing relationships with pupils, families, and the school team
Person Specification
Essential:
7. Experience working with KS2 pupils, ideally with SEN (ASC, ADHD, SLCN)
8. Level 2/3 TA qualification or equivalent
9. Strong communication, empathy, patience, and adaptability
10. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare
Desirable:
11. Experience delivering interventions (., SEMH, speech & language, phonics)
12. Experience collaborating with SENCOs and external specialists
13. Training in behaviour management or trauma-informed approaches
