General Role Description
The Company Accountant is responsible for managing financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting regulations, and providing financial insights to support data-driven business decision-making. This role involves preparing financial reports, budgeting, tax management, and liaising with auditors and other key stakeholders.
Duties - Company Accountant
1. Ensure the company remains compliant with UK law and regulations
2. Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements and reports
3. Conduct financial analysis to identify trends and business opportunities
4. Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies
5. Develop quarterly/annual budgets and monitor financial performance
6. Prepare financial forecasts
7. Provide recommendations for cost optimisation
8. Ensure timely and accurate tax filings
9. Stay updated with tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance
10. Work with tax authorities and auditors as required
11. Oversee invoicing, collections, and payments
12. Negotiate and manage company insurances
13. Monitor outstanding receivables and payables to maintain cash flow
14. Implement internal controls to prevent financial risks
15. Review and approve expense reports and manage company credit cards
16. Coordinate internal and external audits
17. Assist contract managers with contract financial performance
18. Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets
19. Assist the board of Directors and senior management team where required
20. Manage/support payroll
21. Oversee petty cash management
22. Assist with financial/legal requirements within tenders
23. Undertake training where required
24. Support change management and business development processes
