Job Summary
NELFT is the largest provider of Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) in England. The MHSTs deliver evidence‑based individual and group interventions in educational settings for children experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties aged 5 to 18 years. The Mid Essex MHST covers Braintree, Chelmsford and Maldon and focuses on whole‑school approaches to improve mental health outcomes. The team is multidisciplinary, supportive, compassionate and encourages flexible working and professional development. Successful applicants will enrol on the Children and Young People’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Services supervisor course, which is funded as part of the MHST programme and a fundamental requirement for the post.
Main Duties
* Work in partnership with schools, CYP and families to develop plans for intervention and agreed outcomes.
* Support the Locality Clinical Lead with formulation and management plans for schools, parents and CYP using specialist psychological interventions, in both individual and group settings.
* Effectively manage a caseload of CYP with mild to moderate mental health difficulties, completing thorough assessments, risk assessments, care plans and reviews.
* Provide caseload management and supervision to Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioners, Education Mental Health Practitioner(s) and Senior Mental Health Practitioner(s).
* Support in the delivery of evidence‑based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
* Work as part of a multidisciplinary team within the locality and across other MHSTs in Essex.
* Operate autonomously and collaboratively as part of the team.
Qualifications
* Registered/Accredited Clinical/Counselling Psychologist, Family Therapist, Drama Therapist, Art Psychotherapist, CBT Therapist, Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist, IPT-A Therapist.
* Qualified and registered RMN/RGN, Health Visitor with a minimum PgDip in delivering evidence‑based psychological interventions.
* Full registration with HCPC, NMC, BABCP or equivalent professional body.
Experience
* At least 2 years (including training period) of delivering evidence‑based psychological interventions for low mood, anxiety and behavioural problems with children and young people.
* Experience working with moderate presentations and neuro‑divergence.
* Experience providing caseload management and clinical supervision.
* Desirable: experience working in educational settings and providing supervision to trainees (EMHP/CWP or APs or Clinical Psychology trainees).
* Desirable: experience delivering interventions in different cultural contexts.
Skills
* Ability to deliver workshops to professionals, young people and/or parents/carers.
Other Requirements
* Access to own vehicle and ability to travel efficiently across the area.
