We’re looking for a compassionate, resilient and proactive SEND Teaching Assistant to support children with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs and ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) in a nurturing school environment.
If you’re someone who notices the quiet child in the corner, celebrates the small wins, and stays calm when things feel anything but, you’ll fit right in here.
What you’ll be doing
No two days look the same, and that’s part of the magic.
Supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups with SEMH and ASD needs
Helping to create a calm, structured, and safe learning environment
Using creative and adaptive approaches to keep learners engaged
Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils who need consistency most
Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
What we’re looking for
You don’t need to tick every box, but the right attitude is everything.
Experience supporting children with SEMH and/or ASD
A patient, empathetic, and resilient nature
Confidence managing challenging behaviour in a calm, supportive way
A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
Team player with a proactive mindset
Bonus if you’ve had training in behaviour support, safeguarding, or interventions.
Why this role matters
You’ll be the person who helps a child feel understood.
The one who turns a tough morning into a manageable one.
The steady presence that makes school feel safe again.
And those moments? They stick.
