Temporary contract – 37 hours per week for 12 weeks, 15th June 2026 – 4th September 2026 (total payment £6,054.89)
The role will work as part of a team to ensure the welfare of animals and the standards of care are maintained within our diverse Animal Units. This will include maintaining accommodation, care & handling of animals and ensuring the units are well presented. Responsibilities
* Maintain accommodation, care & handling of animals.
* Ensure units are well presented.
* Provide daily care, enrichment, training and behaviour observations for a diverse range of animals (meerkats, capybara, sugar glider, alpacas, snakes, lizards, birds, invertebrates, fish).
* Report any problems to the animal centre manager.
* Assist in preparing the unit and facilitate handling of animals during practical teaching sessions.
* Ensure a safe educational environment and maintain relevant work areas in compliance with safe working practices.
* Provide assistance to learners and other users of practical teaching areas.
The post is based at the Suffolk New College Rural campus, but you may be required to travel between campuses.
Qualifications
* Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check required.
