Devon County Council is seeking a Communications Officer to join our innovative and agile Communications Team. This role is central to delivering high-quality internal and external communications that support the Council’s priorities and enhance its reputation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and implement corporate communications projects and campaigns.
2. Produce creative content for a range of audiences across multiple platforms, including digital and social media.
3. Liaise with senior officers, elected Members, and partner organisations to ensure effective communication.
4. Monitor and evaluate communication activities.
5. Participate in the Communications Team’s 24/7 emergency call-out rota.
Essential Requirements
6. Experience in communications, marketing, or digital media.
7. Strong writing, editing, and interpersonal skills.
8. Ability to manage conflicting priorities and work to tight deadlines.
9. Experience in digital and social media.
10. Recognised qualification in communications, public relations, or marketing.
Desirable
11. Knowledge of local government and the public sector.
12. Design and video editing experience.
13. Web publishing and Adobe Creative Suite skills.

This role offers flexibility with remote working options. You will work in a fast-paced environment requiring creativity, diplomacy, and sound judgement.
