Who are UK Sport?
We are the UK’s trusted high-performance experts, powering our greatest athletes, teams, sports and events to achieve positive success. Investing a combination of National Lottery and Government funds, we support our Olympic and Paralympic sports to realise their world-leading potential and help bring major sporting events to the UK. Our purpose is to lead high-performance sport to enable extraordinary moments that enrich lives.
We are on a mission – to create the greatest decade of extraordinary sporting moments; reaching, inspiring and uniting the nation. That mission is underpinned by three ambitions for UK high-performance sport; to keep winning and win well, to grow a thriving sporting system and to harness those to inspire positive change. Working with the sports and events we fund, DCMS, and our partner organisations across the UK high-performance system, we are building on 25 years of ever-growing success to write the UK’s next chapter for Olympic and Paralympic sport.
About the role:
As a Mega Event Officer, you’ll support the delivery of UK Sport’s work across some of the UK’s most high‑profile and exciting mega sporting events. Alongside this, you’ll support the wider UK Sport Events Team with planning, coordination, secretariat support and day‑to‑day engagement with partners. This is a varied, hands‑on role offering fantastic exposure to major event delivery and the wider sporting system.
Who will I be working with?
You’ll work closely with the Mega Events Lead, colleagues across the UK Sport Events Team, DCMS, government partners, local authorities, host cities and delivery bodies such as Grand Départ GB 2027 Ltd.
About you
You’re highly organised, proactive and enjoy being at the heart of busy, collaborative programmes. You bring experience working with public bodies or partners, such as government departments, local authorities or UK Sport and you’re comfortable building positive working relationships across a wide range of stakeholders. You enjoy coordinating activity, supporting events and helping teams stay organised and focused. You communicate clearly, pay close attention to detail and bring a practical, can‑do attitude to problem‑solving. Whether supporting senior colleagues, assisting with event operations or juggling multiple priorities, you take pride in delivering high‑quality work and contributing to shared goals. Above all, you’re motivated by working in the sport and events sector and excited by the opportunity to support the delivery of a truly landmark mega event.
As you’ll see from the more detailed Job Description, we are looking for an exceptional candidate who will naturally look to collaborate with others. In return, we will be there with you every step of the way. Come join us and be part of the heartbeat of high-performance sport in the UK.
