Overview
Thales delivers operational advantage to armed forces customers worldwide. As a Software Engineering Apprentice in our Cheadle site, you will join a diverse team of engineers tackling complex challenges for the Royal Navy and export customers. You will contribute to cutting‑edge projects in Artificial Intelligence, novel computing architectures and advanced warfare systems while pursuing a BSc in Digital and Technology Solutions.

Responsibilities
You will be a key member of a software sprint team developing solutions and will work with wider disciplines such as systems engineering to define what is needed and what is valuable to the end user. You will own your development plan covering the technical and professional skills needed to meet your ambitions and will be fully supported by your team to achieve this.
Apprentice Programme
Following the Software Engineering Pathway you will study for a BSc in Digital and Technology Solutions. Over the 4‑year programme you will attend one day per week at Manchester Metropolitan University, while the other four days will be spent at the Cheadle site applying university learning to real‑world projects. At the end of the apprenticeship you will be working as a software engineer within the Thales UK businesses.
Requirements
* 104 UCAS tariff points at A Level (Grades BCC) or equivalent (e.g. BTEC DMM)
* 5 GCSEs grade 9‑4 (A‑C) including English and Maths

Security Clearance
All successful candidates must possess the permanent right to work in the UK and will be required to obtain full Security Clearance (SC) before starting.
