Activities of the team/department that this role will operate in;
•Support the department head in the leadership of the design department.
•Demonstrate a high standard of engineering judgment, application and innovation.
•Provide engineering solutions, at pre-construction and construction phases of projects.
•Ensure the practicality and commercial viability of design solutions.
•Carry out design in accordance with codes and standards.
•Interpret and communicate health and safety information.
Purpose of the role and your responsibilities;

•Lead a design team.
•Take a leading technical role in tenders and PQQs, including contributions to technical submissions.

•Plan and utilise resources, including monitoring and evaluation.

•Be able to advise on the procurement of external consultants.
•Identify opportunities for challenge of provided information in order to make savings and propose suitable design and methodology changes.
•Prepare cost comparisons for different solutions, for use in the decision-making process.
•Engage with the supply chain to produce advantageous solutions.
•Use sound and unbiased reasoning in decisions that have a commercial impact.
•Use advanced analysis techniques to develop detailed solutions.
•Carry out design and support other designers, using standards, codes of practice and industry guidance.
•Where authorised by the Engineering Director or Head of Temporary Works, carry out design incorporating departures from standard.
•Lead health and safety aspects of design.
•Ensure clear communication of residual risks.
•Understand what BIM is, Understand the implications and value proposition of BIM within your organization.
•Assist the business/project in achieving the objectives/targets set in the Taylor Woodrow Carbon Strategy within your specific work activities.
Formal qualifications required;
•Minimum BSC in civil/structural engineering and chartership
• Structural and geotechnical related software
•Minimum 8 years experience in design of temporary works and permanent works.
•Temporary and permanent works, geotechnical, structural and roads.
•Proactive, target driven, team builder, working to targets and deadlines, driven the team to achieve the KPIs for the BU
