If so, Birmingham Children’s Trust wants you. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Social Work Practice Supervisor to join our Family Help service in the Targeted Family Help Space.

We are committed to Working Together to make Birmingham the greatest city to grow up in. Our mission is to deliver excellent social work and family support services for the city’s most vulnerable children and families. Every member of our team plays a vital role in achieving our shared goals.

Responsibilities

As a Social Work Practice Supervisor, you will:

* Be a supported lead practitioner for the Targeted Family teams to lead on CIN planning.
* Support lead practitioners to undertake needs-led child and family S17 assessments and lead the creation and delivery of multi-agency support plans.
* Support Child in Need meetings and establish a Team Around the Family.
* Support the lead Practitioners to prepare and present assessments and reports to conferences, courts, and panels.
* Engage with the Multi-Agency Child Protection Team (MACPT) and deliver child protection plans where necessary.
* Build strong relationships with children and families, promoting their development, safety, and wellbeing.
* Use trauma-informed, relationship-based practice to engage staff and families.
* Ensure lead practitioners maintain high standards of case recording and contribute to multi-agency partnerships.
* Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of work.

About You

We are looking for dedicated and compassionate individuals who are committed to making a difference. The ideal candidate will have:

* A degree in Social Work and you must have completed your ASYE with substantial social work experience.
* Registration with Social Work England (SWE).
* Substantial experience working with children and families in a social work setting.
* Strong assessment and analytical skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* The ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
* The ability to supervise and support others.
* Support lead practitioners from the Targeted Family teams to lead on CIN planning.

Our Offer to You

* A generous annual leave package of 30 days annual leave, plus bank holidays, rising to 33 days after 5 years of service and 35 days after 10 years of service.
* Free on-site parking.
* Full reimbursement of your annual Social Work England registration fee.
* Flexible and mobile working policy — hybrid model with a combination of time in the office and at home.
* We are proud to be an Equal Opportunities Employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.

Why Join Us?

* Impactful Work - be part of a team that makes a real difference in the lives of the city’s most vulnerable children.
* Supportive Environment - enjoy a collaborative work culture where your contributions are valued.
* Career Development - benefit from tailored development programs, supportive supervision, and learning opportunities to enhance your skills.
* Generous Benefits - competitive reward package including generous leave allowance, Local Government pension scheme, and additional benefits.

Our Values

We approach our work with care and compassion, actively listening to the needs of the children and young people we serve, and involving them in decisions that affect their lives. We are committed to using resources wisely and fostering collaboration among schools, health professionals, and the police to create a supportive network for our young people. We believe that working as a unified team helps Birmingham’s children and young people thrive.

Safeguarding

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Depending on the role, you may be asked to undergo the appropriate level of Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check to assess your suitability for working with children and young people. The level of check (Standard, Enhanced, or Enhanced with Barred List) is determined by the responsibilities of the role and the level of contact with children and young people. We reserve the right to close the job early should we reach the required number of applications.
