We especially welcome applications from minority groups in the community who may be underrepresented in our workforce.
At UHD our active staff network groups are the Women’s Network, Black Asian Minority Ethnic Group (BAME), Pride Network, European (EU), Pro Ability Staff Network, and the Armed Forces Support Group. We are proudly signed up to the Disability Confident and Armed Forces Covenant guaranteed interview schemes.

While this is not discouraged, we kindly remind applicants that submissions should remain an honest and accurate representation of your own experience and suitability. Personal integrity is an important part of the recruitment process.
Job overview
UHD is one of the largest organisations in the NHS, employing around 10,000 colleagues and serving a population of over 800,000 people across Dorset. We are investing over £500m across our hospital sites, alongside wider system change to support the development of Integrated Neighbourhood Teams. This is creating a very different model of care, one that is more joined up, more responsive and more sustainable.
This is a moment of real change for the organisation and a key opportunity to shape how the organisation performs, how people lead, and how culture supports delivery at scale.
Main duties of the job
Lead the Trust’s approach to organisational development, leadership, talent and inclusion. This involves improving staff experience, strengthening leadership capability and ensuring that cultural change is felt on the ground, not just described at Board level.
Work with senior leaders, challenge and support in equal measure, and build credibility quickly across a diverse workforce. Be clear about what matters and persistent in seeing it through.
Operate in complexity, influence at senior level and deliver change that is both visible and sustained.
Working for our organisation
UHD is investing, developing and transforming Trust services in line with the New Hospital Programme. Some services may move site this year or next, either temporarily or permanently. Recruiting Managers can answer service‑specific questions during interview.
If a role or service relocates as part of a planned move, excess mileage will not be reimbursed. Travel from home to the new work base will be classed as a normal commute. Other changes will be managed under Trust or national terms and conditions.
Benefits and conditions
Staff recruited are expected to be available to work flexibly across all our Trust locations to meet service demands.
COVID-19 vaccination remains the best way to protect yourself and our patients from the virus when working in our healthcare settings. Whilst this vaccination is not a condition of employment we do encourage our staff to get vaccinated.
Internal Candidates: staff employed prior to merger who voluntarily change jobs will be appointed to UHD terms and conditions.
