Junior Safety Engineer

Compensation
£30,000 – £40,000 per year
Key Responsibilities
 * Support the delivery of safety engineering work packages using tools and frameworks such as JIRA, risk registers and hazard logs.
 * Assist in implementing safety engineering methodologies including FMEA, HAZID and GSN.
 * Contribute to safety documentation (Safety Management Plans, Safety Case Reports, Compliance Reviews) ensuring clear, complete deliverables aligned with project milestones.
 * Maintain assurance artefacts such as evidence sets, hazard logs, risk registers, legislation compliance assessments and hazardous materials registers.
 * Support assurance reviews, audits and compliance checks across multiple projects.
 * Engage with internal and external teams to ensure consistent, high‑quality safety practices.
 * Actively pursue professional development to progress toward senior assurance responsibilities.
Key Skills, Experience and Behaviours
 * Background in an engineering, technical or scientific discipline.
 * Excellent written and verbal communication, including report writing and presentation.
 * Ability to work pro‑actively and autonomously towards agreed deadlines.
 * Experience adopting new IT tools and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
 * Attention to detail, critical analysis and problem‑solving ability.
Desirable Skills
 * Awareness of a typical safety engineering lifecycle (e.g., DEF‑STAN 00‑56, IEC 61508, ISO 26262, ARP4754A).
 * Experience in hazard identification and risk analysis techniques.
 * Experience working collaboratively in multi‑disciplinary teams.
 * Awareness of environmental or quality management systems.
 * Familiarity with government or defence engineering practices.
