Overview
We're looking for a passionate and practical Product Designer to join our Design team. You'll be responsible for designing and developing our next generation of garden buildings—sheds, summerhouses, log cabins, and more—balancing aesthetics, functionality, material efficiency, and manufacturability.
From concept to production, you'll bring innovative ideas to life, improving the way our products are built, experienced, and enjoyed.
Key Responsibilities
Design new outdoor structures and garden buildings, considering usability, materials, cost, and environmental impact.
Produce detailed 3D CAD models and technical drawings using Solidworks for prototyping and manufacturing.
Support the creation of clear, engaging assembly instructions and product manuals using Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop).
Assist marketing and e-commerce teams by creating visual content that showcases product features and usage.
Work closely with joinery, purchasing, planning, production, logistics, and installation teams to ensure designs are practical, efficient, and ready for manufacture.
Solve real-world design challenges—optimising flat-pack construction, ease of assembly, and durability.
Support product testing and prototyping, working closely with the Customer Services team to understand customer experiences and help them learn about new products.
Stay current with trends in outdoor living, home improvement, and modular building design.
Requirements
At least 3 years' experience working in a professional business environment.
A degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a closely related field
Strong proficiency in SolidWorks
A solid understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM), with experience working closely with fabrication or production teams.
Practical experience designing with materials such as timber, metal, and plastics, ideally within manufacturing environments.
A creative, practical problem-solver who's as happy in the workshop as they are at the drawing board.
Confidence using Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) to produce design manuals, diagrams, and other visual assets.
A strong eye for layout and visual storytelling, particularly when turning complex assembly processes into clear, user-friendly guides.
Excellent sketching and visual communication skills.
Experience with flat-pack design, joinery, or Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) desirable but not essential

This role is full time working Monday - Friday 38.75 hours per week on site at our premises in Sutton On Trent, NG23 6QN. Due to location transport is required.
Pay from £35,000 - £40,000 DOE
