 
        
        Job Overview: A fantastic opportunity has recently arisen within the Bristol Urological Institute for a Patient Pathway Assistant working 32 hours a week to join our busy Urology department. This role supports the administrative processes for patients with urological issues in the Bristol and South West area, including managing the referral to treatment pathway and coordinating day‑case and inpatient lists.
The role works closely with the Consultant Team and the Patient Pathway Coordinator, providing high‑quality administrative support and ensuring patients receive timely and accurate information.
Key Responsibilities
 * Support the Patient Pathway Coordinator in ensuring patients are admitted efficiently for investigative treatments, diagnostic procedures and inpatient and day‑case operations within national guidelines.
 * Manage the waiting list: add, remove and modify patients as requested and keep all entries accurate.
 * Book theatre lists and schedule outpatient appointments, pre‑admission appointments, investigative treatments, diagnostic appointments and TCI/operation dates, ensuring patients are informed and paperwork completed.
 * Provide administrative support to consultant and clinical teams including dictation transcription and clinic letter preparation.
 * Maintain accurate records in the PAS system, ensuring all letters, notes and investigations are correctly filed and traced.
 * Handle customer enquiries in a courteous and diplomatic manner, providing admission guidance and liaising with partner organisations.
 * Process incoming mail and electronic referrals, and forward relevant clinical reports to the Patient Pathway Coordinator.
 * Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all Trust policies, including Infection Control, Hygiene Code and Data Protection.
 * Provide cover for colleagues during planned leave and sickness, and undertake additional administrative tasks as required.
 * Collaborate with Cancer Services MDT to ensure patients with malignancy receive appropriate treatment.
 * Communicate information on patients’ special needs and comorbidities to relevant wards and departments.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
 * GCSE in Maths and English (minimum grade C or equivalent).
 * Strong organisational skills, ability to prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines.
 * Good written and verbal communication skills.
 * Ability to follow procedures accurately.
Desirable Criteria
 * Previous NHS experience and knowledge of patient pathway processes.
 * Familiarity with the PAS system.
