A Planning Specialist is responsible for leading a team to develop a detailed level 4/5 schedule to operational level aligned to the level 3 schedule. This will be across a programme or in support of multiple projects leading on identifying material requirements, allocation of budgets, documents required and detailed scheduling of tasks to support Delivery Managers.
Please Note: this role will require SC clearance for this defence project. This role will be based on site 2-3 days per week in Plymouth, Devon.
You’ll be responsible for:
1. Managing planning processes to align schedules, budgets, and resource profiles with project objectives.
2. Monitoring progress, KPIs, and change codes to ensure timely delivery and compliance.
3. Driving team performance, capability development, and succession planning.
4. Promoting safety, quality, and continuous improvement across all activities.
5. Managing level 4/5 schedules, material demand dates, and EVM reporting.
6. Coordinating with engineering, procurement, and production to maintain schedule integrity.
7. Overseeing shop orders, labour forecasts, and delivery performance against targets.
8. Analysing trends, resolve technical queries, and implement lessons learned for improvement.
You’ll need to have:
9. Proven experience in ERP systems, scheduling, and estimating across full construction lifecycle.
10. Skilled in MS Office and project planning tools.
11. ONC or equivalent engineering/professional qualification (APM, RICS, ACostE).
12. APM certifications in planning, risk, and earned value management.
