Are you a Qualified Social Worker with advanced skills and a passion for making a real difference in the lives of children and families? We’re looking for an experienced Advanced Practitioner to join a busy but highly supportive Safeguarding & Child Protection Team in Greater Manchester.
In this role, you’ll be part of a dedicated team working to provide timely interventions and sustainable positive change — from early help to long-term care planning and permanence.
About the Role
This is a frontline role that covers:
1. Children in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), and Court Proceedings
2. Section 47 Enquiries and progressing cases to Initial Child Protection Conferences
3. Assessment work directly with children and families
4. Multi-agency working with police, education, health, and early help services
5. Supporting sustainable change by promoting local and community-based resources
As an Advanced Practitioner, you’ll also play a key role in modelling best practice, supporting colleagues, and ensuring high standards are maintained across the team.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will be:
6. A Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England
7. Experienced (4+ years post-qualified) in child protection and statutory children’s services
8. Confident in legislation, thresholds, and planning for permanence
9. Skilled in complex assessments, case planning, and relationship-based practice
10. An excellent communicator and collaborative team player
11. Passionate about keeping children safe while empowering families
Key Responsibilities
12. Complete detailed assessments of risk, need, and family dynamics
13. Develop care and protection plans that promote safety, stability, and dignity
14. Provide reflective support and guidance to less experienced staff and students
15. Work collaboratively with internal and external partners to deliver joined-up care
16. Ensure all interventions are child-focused, evidence-informed, and culturally competent
