Teaching Assistant - Winchester
Prospero Teaching is seeking a friendly and committed Teaching Assistant to support pupils in schools in the Winchester area. This long‑term role involves working closely with teachers to support learning, provide additional help to pupils, and contribute to a positive and well‑structured classroom environment.
You will support pupils during lessons, assist with small‑group activities, and offer 1:1 support where required. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children and wants to play a key part in supporting their academic, social, and emotional development.
The position is well suited to candidates with experience in childcare, youth work, school support, care roles, or graduates looking to gain valuable experience in education, psychology, or related fields.
The Role:
Support teachers during lessons across the school day
Provide 1:1 and small‑group support where required
Help pupils stay focused, engaged, and confident in learning
Assist with classroom tasks, activities, and resources
Encourage positive behaviour and independence
Support pupils with routines and transitions
Contribute to a calm, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Ideal Candidate:
Experience working with children or young people
Patient, supportive, and confident in a classroom setting
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Adaptable and willing to support different age groups
Positive and reliable with a caring approach
Graduates in psychology, education, or child‑related subjects encouraged to apply
Contract Details:
Position: Teaching Assistant
Location: Winchester
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Full‑time, term‑time
Pay Rate: £14.66 - £15.66 per hour
Contract: Long‑term
Experience, Training & Safeguarding:
Experience with children preferred
Safeguarding training can be provided
Understanding of classroom expectations beneficial
