Job Description:
A prestigious global law firm is seeking an experienced Commercial Lawyer to join its in-house Risk team in London. This is a rare and impactful opportunity to step away from fee-earning and move into a strategic role at the centre of the firm’s operations, advising senior stakeholders on complex client contracts and global risk initiatives.
Why Apply?
1. An attractive six-figure salary and exceptional benefits package.
2. Strategic, high-impact work with access to firm leadership and cross-border teams.
3. Collaborative global environment, working with colleagues across London and US Offices.
The Role
Joining a respected global Risk function, working closely with risk teams in UK/US, you’ll advise on a wide spectrum of commercial, legal, and strategic matters. You’ll draft and negotiate high-value client contracts, ensure compliance with regulatory and internal frameworks, and collaborate with lawyers, partners, and professional business teams across multiple jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Draft, review, and negotiate complex client-facing and commercial agreements, ensuring alignment with internal policies and professional standards.
2. Advise partners on contractual terms, business requirements, and risk-related issues, balancing commercial needs with compliance.
3. Identify and mitigate legal and commercial risks, and support client audits, compliance reviews, and risk assessments.
4. Develop and enhance templates, playbooks, and scalable processes for efficient contract management.
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Finance, Business Development, DEI, and Information Security, and supervise administrative support within the Risk function.
Who This Would Suit
This role is ideal for an England & Wales qualified solicitor with relevant post-qualification experience, gained either in a top-tier law firm advising clients or within an internal legal or risk function. A strong background in contract drafting and negotiation is essential, along with excellent communication, judgement, and project management skills. The right candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, international environment and be eager to contribute to a high-performing, collaborative team.
This is more than just a legal role — it’s a career move into the operational and strategic core of a world-leading law firm. You’ll join a collegiate and intellectually stimulating environment, engage with complex international work, and contribute to the firm’s long-term success from within. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply now for a confidential discussion.
