About the Role
As a Class Teacher at Kestrel House, you will play a central role in developing pupils’ academic abilities, communication skills, social understanding, and independence. You will lead your class team with clarity, compassion, and high expectations — ensuring every pupil receives the highest quality education and care.

What You’ll Be Doing
1. Designing and delivering engaging schemes of work and lesson plans aligned with the Kestrel House curriculum and individual pupil targets.
2. Creating practical, meaningful, and contextual learning opportunities that build independence and prepare pupils for adulthood.
3. Organising an inspiring and well‑structured learning environment with high‑quality resources.
4. Providing strong, supportive line management to your class team.
5. Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils and maintaining professional, proactive communication with parents and carers.
6. Using assessment tools effectively to track, record, and celebrate pupil progress.
7. Fostering a genuine love of learning and ensuring every pupil is challenged to reach their full potential.
8. Supporting the wellbeing, safety, and behaviour of pupils in line with school policies.
9. Demonstrating excellent practice and working collaboratively with colleagues across the school.
10. Communicating clearly and professionally with all stakeholders.
11. Developing your expertise in teaching autistic pupils, staying aligned with best practice and sharing knowledge with the wider team.
12. Maintaining accurate records and upholding the highest standards of confidentiality.
