Being a Senior Coach (commonly referred to as a Senior Support Worker, Residential Support Worker or Children's Mental Health worker) at SuperCare offers a fulfilling chance to positively influence the lives of vulnerable children and young people. In this role, you'll help them become more independent, succeed in their education, and grow personally through various enjoyable activities in a safe environment. You'll collaborate closely with young people, their families, social workers, and other organisations to ensure everyone's needs are addressed, making their transition to adulthood smooth.


Main Duties and Responsibilities

* Direct work with young people, key working and generally taking an active part in providing day to day care and support on a shift work basis.
* Work in partnership with young people, their social workers, careers services and other relevant agencies.
* Coordinate, monitor and review Care Plans for all allocated young people preparing to make the transition to adulthood and greater independence.
* Take responsibility for the upkeep of the establishment with regard to health and safety and primary care issues, and make autonomous decisions about individual young people\'s requests and behaviour whilst on shift.
* Administrative work and record keeping associated with key working responsibilities and the daily running of the home.
* Ensure that young people carry as much responsibility for their own lives as they can reasonably and demonstrably be expected to carry, keeping them informed of their circumstances and rights, involving them in planning their lives, supporting them and helping them towards taking greater control and responsibility.
* Respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and report these effectively.
* Attend to their day to day needs which includes bathing, feeding and cooking for the young people.


Household Responsibilities

* Share in the practical activities necessary to maintain the home.
* Care for the fabric, equipment and overall environment.
* Be accountable for moneys allocated for specific purposes.
* Report repairs and ensure that necessary actions are taken.


Personal

* Act as a role model and guide for young people, setting principles and examples.
* Keep abreast of best practice to develop skills, knowledge and experience, in accordance with a personal development plan.
* Utilise regular professional supervision.
* Report to a line manager or other appropriate person any malpractice or evidence which may suggest it.


Additional Duties

* Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by management.
* Work shifts including weekends and bank holidays on a rotation basis as required.
* Flexibility to work at other properties as directed by management.

We follow Safer Recruitment measures. You should expect to provide adequate DBS information and personal information to prove your address and identity. You will be subject to enhanced DBS checks before being offered a placement and should be prepared to volunteer any relevant information on request.

You will receive regular and ongoing micro training to perform your role to your best ability. Your training will include 36 days of face-to-face training per year with our external training specialist.


Requirements To Be Successful

* Experience of working with children/young people in an Ofsted environment (important).
* Must have NVQ Level 3 relevant to child care (essential).
* Enhanced DBS Check, and on the update service (important).
* Full UK licence (ideal).
* Smart and agile to handle the daily needs and activities of the young people (essential).
* Interested in long-term career development, with a focus on enhancing skills to better support children and young people (important).
