The Position
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Relief Band 5 Physiotherapist to join the Orkney Health and Care Partnership, based at The Balfour Hospital in Kirkwall.
This role offers the opportunity to work across a range of clinical areas, gaining valuable experience while developing your skills in:
* Long‑Term Conditions
* Musculoskeletal (MSK) Outpatients
* Inpatient Rehabilitation
* Respiratory
* Neurology Rehabilitation
* Frailty and Falls Prevention
* Paediatrics
You will be a motivated and enthusiastic individual, contributing to a supportive and effective team while delivering a high standard of clinical care. This is an excellent opportunity to explore different specialties and build a strong foundation in physiotherapy practice.
Support will include supervision, CPD opportunities and a welcoming team culture.
The Candidate
We are looking for a compassionate, proactive physiotherapist who is eager to learn and contribute within a supportive environment. Applications are welcomed from newly qualified physiotherapists and those with relevant experience.
You will thrive in this role if you are adaptable, enjoy collaborative working and are passionate about delivering high‑quality care in a rural setting.
Essential Requirements
* BSc or MSc in Physiotherapy
* HCPC registration
* Driving licence – the post holder should have access to transport. If unable to drive due to a disability, reasonable adjustments will be considered.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Commitment to person‑centred care
* Willingness to work flexibly across different clinical areas
* Motivation to engage in ongoing professional development
Location, Working Pattern and Contract Duration
This post will be based at The Balfour, with a requirement to work across Orkney and within people's homes. The successful candidate will work Relief as and when required.
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK.
Benefits and Salary
The salary for this post is Band 5. If residing on Orkney, you’ll also receive a Distant Islands Allowance of £1,719 pro‑rated per annum, adding extra value to your career with NHS Orkney.
