Director of Finance, Risk & Compliance Fire Fighters Charity is a national healthcare and wellbeing support provider to the UK’s fire and rescue services personnel and their families. Fire Fighters Charity is recruiting a Director of Finance, Risk & Compliance who will share our passion and commitment for the health and well-being of those whose courage and sacrifice in the service of their communities know no bounds. There are hundreds of thousands of members of the fire services community across the UK. Fire and rescue services don’t just fight flames, they rescue and respond to everything from floods, major disasters and terrorist incidents to road traffic collisions. Those who serve in fire and rescue services, be they firefighters, control operators or support staff, face distinct health and well-being demands arising from their roles, and they need tailored and timely care and support to manage the impact of service. For over 80 years, we have stood side by side with the UK fire and rescue services community, there for them when it matters most as a charitable healthcare provider to give them access to the independent and tailored healthcare and well-being support they need, both during and after service. About the role As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, our Director of Finance, Risk & Compliance will provide leadership and direction to the Finance team and the wider organisation. Their commercial and financial expertise will be vital to achieving our ambition to expand our reach and deepen our impact, and to supporting effective and efficient operational delivery. Key responsibilities include: Collaboratively leading the charity as part of the Senior Leadership Team Providing strategic financial leadership across the charity and its entities Delivering expert advice and financial modelling to support funding, planning, and partnerships Leading corporate risk management and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations Managing and developing the Finance team Engaging and influencing key stakeholders Who we are looking for We’re looking for an accomplished, qualified finance leader, ideally with experience in the charity sector. To be successful in this role, you will need relevant experience in: Leading charity or not-for-profit financial management and accounting, including fund accounting, Gift Aid and partial VAT exemption for charities Leading enterprise-level risk management, compliance and assurance Experience of delivering complex strategic programmes Defining, monitoring and evaluating enterprise-wide financial performance Analysing data, parsing complex information and providing insights
