Our client is seeking a Waking Night Residential Support Worker to join a children’s residential home in Ollerton. This role is ideal for someone who provides calm reassurance, consistency, and compassion throughout the night, helping young people feel safe, settled, and supported.

The client is a reputable provider of children’s residential services, committed to creating safe, nurturing homes where young people can thrive. Their homes are professionally staffed and well resourced, supporting children and young people aged 8–18 with stability, emotional wellbeing, and positive routines.

About the Role

As a Waking Night Residential Support Worker, you’ll be responsible for supporting the emotional and physical wellbeing of the young person overnight, ensuring they feel safe, reassured, and cared for.

This is a low‑risk, nurturing environment, focused on routines, sleep support, and emotional wellbeing. The setting is not characterised by frequent aggressive behaviour.

Working Pattern & Hours

* 2‑week rolling rota

* Week 1: 4 shifts

* Week 2: 3 shifts

* Shift times: 10:00pm – 8:00am

What You’ll Be Doing

* Provide a calm, reassuring presence throughout the night

* Respond to the emotional and physical needs of children

* Monitor and support children who experience sleep difficulties, anxiety, or nightmares

* Encourage and model positive bedtime and night‑time routines

* Respond promptly to incidents, safeguarding concerns, or emergencies in line with policies and procedures

* Administer first aid and medication where required, in accordance with training and guidelines

* Deliver high‑quality, consistent care aligned with care and placement plans

* Build safe, trusting relationships using DDP‑informed practice

* Accurately complete nightly records, keywork notes, and incident reports

* Support the young person’s education, health, and emotional wellbeing

* Work collaboratively with the wider staff team, contributing to handovers, reflective practice, and team meetings

* Support domestic tasks to maintain a safe, clean, and homely environment (e.g. cooking, cleaning, shopping)

The client recognises that waking night roles are emotionally and practically demanding. In return, staff are supported within a team where care is not just provided, but truly lived — and where every decision is rooted in the wellbeing and potential of the young person.

Salary, Hours & Benefits

-Salary: £30,500 – £32,500 per year

-Fully funded qualifications (Level 3, 4, or 5)

What the Client Is Looking For

Preferred:

*QCF Level 3 or 4 in Children & Young People

Also desirable:

*Experience within residential childcare (minimum 1 year preferred)

*Understanding of child development and safeguarding

*Ability to remain calm, consistent, and reassuring during night‑time hours

*A full UK driving licence
