Sateba UK would like to recruit a Technical Manager who will oversee the quality of our precast concrete products. This role will oversee all technical aspects of our current and intended precast concrete operations, focused on the rail and infrastructure sectors. The Technical Manager will be responsible for ensuring the specification, efficiency, safety, and quality of our precast concrete products, as well as leading technical innovation, continuous improvement initiatives and the introduction of new products or projects into the factory environment. The role will also involve technical support for the commercial team, requiring regular interaction with customers and suppliers. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of concrete and constituent materials, precast manufacturing processes, reinforcement criteria, engineering and quality control standards, and preferably a strong background in civil engineering or related fields. Key Responsibilities: Technical Leadership: Lead the business in technical aspects of our products and manufacturing processes, liaising with customers and suppliers about live and forthcoming projects, supporting the commercial team on new business initiatives, as well as operational departments on ongoing manufacturing. Technical Oversight: Provide technical leadership and guidance to the production and quality teams in all aspects of precast concrete manufacturing, including materials testing and receipt, batching, casting, curing and finishing processes. Quality Control: Support quality department personnel to implement quality control procedures that ensure that all precast concrete products meet industry standards and customer specifications. Process Optimisation: Identify opportunities for process improvement and optimisation to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and minimise production costs. Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and safety standards governing precast concrete manufacturing operations. Technical Support: Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise to resolve production and quality issues. Training and Development: Train and mentor production staff on best practices, technical skills, and safety protocols related to precast concrete manufacturing. Technical and Engineering Standards: Knowledge of standards and ability to recognise key requirements, communicating them into the operating environment to ensure the business is reflecting them in day to day and intended operations. Environmental and Materials Development: Support the company’s environmental objectives, reflecting them in materials and product evolution initiatives. Lab: Oversight of lab work and liaison with the quality team, whether such work is done internally or contracted out. The ideal candidate will have: Minimum of 5 years of experience in concrete precast manufacturing and/or concrete construction projects, or related industry. Strong technical knowledge of concrete batching and precast production processes, materials, and equipment. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Experience of managing people with the confidence to tackle a variety of performance and other related issues, whilst ensuring adherence to HR compliance, processes and policies. Master's degree preferred. Proficiency in CAD software and other engineering tools. Desirable.
