Job Description:
Overview
We are partnering with a client within the natural resources sector who is seeking a Legal Counsel (3–5 PQE) to join its growing in-house legal team. The role will be supporting global supply chain activity and commercial contracting across multiple jurisdictions.
This is an exciting opportunity for a lawyer with strong commercial experience to join a multinational business operating in complex and high-impact environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including procurement contracts, goods and services agreements, MSAs, logistics and transport agreements, and framework arrangements.
* Provide day-to-day legal support to procurement, supply chain, and operational teams on strategic sourcing initiatives and critical supplier relationships.
* Advise on contract risk, governance frameworks, internal approvals processes, and compliance obligations.
* Manage contractual disputes with third parties, working with internal stakeholders and external counsel as needed.
* Support the development and refinement of contract templates, negotiation playbooks, and legal training materials.
* Collaborate with internal teams (e.g. Finance, ESG, Compliance, Operations) to ensure alignment between contractual terms and business strategy.
* Monitor regulatory developments relevant to international supply chains, including ESG regulations, sanctions, and export controls.
* Support the broader legal function on group-wide commercial initiatives and special projects.
Candidate Profile
* Qualified lawyer (common law jurisdiction), with 4–5 years of post-qualification experience in commercial contracts.
* Experience gained in-house within the natural resources, energy, infrastructure or industrials sector, or from a top-tier law firm.
* Demonstrable experience advising on procurement and supply chain contracts across multiple jurisdictions.
* Strong drafting, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
* Commercially pragmatic, with the ability to work cross-functionally and communicate effectively with non-legal teams.
* Exposure to emerging markets would be advantageous.
