Job summary
Yorkshire Street Surgery is looking to recruit a receptionist for a part-time position 27.50 hours per week, 13:00-18:30 Monday to Friday, Extra hours will be expected to cover extended hours, colleague holidays or sickness, and the practice's needs. This is a multi-skilled role for the successful candidate, who will undertake a range of duties including dealing face-to-face with patients and visitors queries at reception, assisting with day-to-day routine GP admin work, answering telephone calls and making appointments and supporting the Surgery team. We are looking for someone who is dedicated and interested in working in a medical environment. The successful applicant will have good levels of literacy, IT skills preferably with a knowledge of EMIS and interpersonal skills with a commitment to the responsibilities of the role. Some medical admin/reception experience would be an advantage, however training and guidance will be given.
Main duties of the job
* Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients any other visitors to the practice
* Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments
* Ensure that reception is left tidy and ready for use for the next shift with all records and signed prescriptions filed.
* Handing completed repeat prescriptions to patient and checking names and address.
* Be able to cover all reception position as necessary
* Process appointment requests for today future appointments from patients by telephone and in person.
* Enter requests for home visits into the visit book, ensuring careful recording of all relevant details and where necessary refer to Duty Doctor.
* Process repeat prescription requests in accordance with practice guidelines
* Register patients for online access
* Have the confidence to answer telephone calls and deal with the query with accuracy

We are a busy GP surgery in Rochdale, looking for a part time receptionist to join our friendly team.
The role will involve dealing with patients in person, over the phone and online, as well as completing a range of administrative duties.
The successful candidate will have excellent IT and communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure.
